The Alchemist

Check out the December 2009 cover of The Alchemist below... yes, it's a Matchbox image! It was taken this Fall in Oregon. Visit The Alchemist here.

Matchbox Pinhole Camera - Hawaii

We brought how many cameras with us to Hawaii? I believe it was five or seven. Two people, two bags, two rented bikes, and five cameras.

More Hawaii images to come, but... we do want to keep our best images hidden for our gallery hanging in Bend, Oregon this coming May 2010. Sooo excited!

Cheers!

It has been awhile. . . But we have some great results!

So these definitely are not the best photo's of the box. But we will be posting more soon. I thought it would be fun to put some of the less stunning photos up, while listening to Buena Vista Social Club. They are good for the soul. Thanks for reading!

Congrats Jon & Pami Opfer

Jon and Pami's wedding is this Saturday July 11, 2009 at the Eagle Rock Lodge in Vida, Oregon.

Chris is already on his way there with Jon and Pami, so I can post knowing they won't see this, yet. Chis is the Best Man and is throwing the Bachelor party for Jon tonight!

For their wedding present, I printed this photograph (online via Costco - great process!) as a 8x8 glossy, and had it framed for them. It looks great on a 11x14 black mat board with a black wooden frame. Ooo la la!

This photo was taken in front of a building on the property they used to live on in Corvallis, Ore. Recently, they purchased their first home in Albany, Ore. and now have a little Dachshund named Semi.

Congrats to Jon and Pami Opfer! I know how much you mean to Chris and I'm excited for you both to become a larger part of my life! See you tomorrow!

XOXO,
Jacq

Renewed hope

Here are a few more for your viewing pleasure. These where also from our last camera sessions. I recently made a new m box cam with a tinfoil lens. I hope it works well! More to come in the future. . . . .. . .

Just had these developed last week. Every shot we took came out! So stoked on this! I've been bummed on the developing process lately which has in turn deterred me from wanting to keep this up. But after these results I cant help but keep going and going! More to come in the future. Thanks for checking us out.

Sonoma B&W Matchbox

Ta Da!

Our first black and white matchbox pinhole camera was a success, to say the very least. At 400 ASA/ISO we were scared all would be overexposed. Especially because we were in sunny Cali and not gloomy Corvallis...

It took over two weeks to get the film developed, but it was worth it. Soon, we'll have a dark room and can begin processing our own film.

My friends Emery and Tim have a Model-T Ford at their tree-fort home in Sonoma county. We were lucky enough to stay there in early March with tiny 'mishee' and giant Liam (their furry children). I like this image because of the center line from the fender - I'm all about the lines... as Chris knows.

Much more images to come, until then...

Enjoy the new colors of m box b log and watch the 'mast head' grow and change with new thumbnail size photo additions. As we keep shootin' - we'll add the goods to the header and eventually it will be a small preview of all our m box adventures.

Thx,
Jacq

These photos are posted in anticipation for 2 new rolls of film being developed. Jacqueline and I shot two rolls of film and I can't wait to see the results! The second roll I actually made a panoramic pinhole from scratch out of a card stock fed ex envelope. I just took those in today to get developed so I hope at least a couple turn out so I can get a few ideas on what I need to change for the next go around.

Talent!

These are both Chris' shots.

The top photograph was taken in Newport, Oregon, near the iconic Lighthouse. I think the additional framing on the top of the image pulls your eye down to the subject much faster, but others may see an obvious mistake. The lens was a bit covered when taking this photo with the "shutter." Then again, the pinhole is such a wide lens, that it may had barely been near the pinhole. After this, we made a mark on the back of the shutter to know how far to pull it up when shooting an image.

When it's really cold, it is hard to stay focused for a 5 second exposure. It was the Oregon Coast.

The second photograph is an image of a sculpture on the OSU Campus in Corvallis, Oregon. Great photo opp. This one is my favourite because it reminds me of Being John Malkovich, in a way.

Corport. Adventures in and around the valley and coast

Here are a few photos of our latest matchbox camera. I went out by myself one night and took a few around corvallis and some actually came out! Then Jacqueline and I went to newport and shot some more photos while on our adventure. These turned out great I think. I would like to get a sharper image and I'm not sure how to achieve this so my next camera will be an experiment in sharpening up the image. I will post more photos later.

Pack-it Liquidators

A while ago, Jacq and I went out and took some photos with a new matchbox with a 36x36 mm frame instead of our usual 24x24 mm. We where hoping that we could get the sprocket holes in the film to show up in the photos, but I guess the machines at Fred Meyer don't go that big. Either way, we had a huge light leak on the back of the camera because we didn't tape the entire matchbox. The film was over-exposed on every shot. We did get some interesting results and we learned quite the lesson. I am also posting these in anticipation to our new roll that is going to be developed next week. I did some surgery on the old matchbox body and put a new modified lens on, in hopes of getting some sharper images. Enjoy these photos and there will be new ones up soon!

Happy New Year. Here is another photo to celebrate! 200s color film from matchbox number 3.
